The Pikangikum Power Line Project is a 117km power distribution line connecting the community of Pikangikum First Nation to the Ontario Power Grid at Red Lake, Ontario. The project is being built due to the urgent power supply needs in Pikangikum First Nation, which is currently serviced by diesel generators that are at capacity and prone to frequent and sometime prolonged outages.  This project is being developed by Wataynikaneyap Power, a company owned by Fortis and 22 First Nations, including Pikangikum First Nation .  PowerTel Utilities Contractors Ltd. is acting as the General Contractor for the Project.
